Dr Wong was both an ASEAN Scholar and Kuok Foundation scholar in his undergraduate years at the National University of Singapore. After receiving postgraduate ophthalmic training from the National University of Singapore and Singapore National Eye Centre, he went on to pursue clinical fellowships in VitreoRetinal (VR) Disease at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, University of Melbourne in 1998; and at Beetham Eye Institute of Joslin Diabetes Centre, Boston the following year. As a fellow at the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, he received advanced training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Returning to Malaysia in 2000, Dr Wong started and headed the division of Vitreoretinal (VR) Diseases of the Department of Ophthalmology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. There, he established a formal training structure in VR diseases, and transformed the unit into the largest VR centre in Malaysia at that time.

Dr Michael Law graduated from the prestigious University of Dublin, Trinity College in 1993. In 1997, he qualified with the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and became a full Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (UK). In September 1999, he was gazetted as a Clinical Specialist in Ophthalmology by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
In June 2000, Dr Law succeeded in becoming one of only two Clinical Fellows in Cornea and External Diseases of the Eye at the renowned University of Toronto, Ontario. During this time, he was trained extensively in the management of complicated cornea and anterior segment diseases, and was able to perform over a hundred cornea transplantation surgeries. Dr Law undertook training in laser refractive surgery at the famous Gimbel Eye Center in Toronto.
Returning to Malaysia in 2001, Dr Law joined a local eye hospital where he practiced as a Cornea and Anterior Segment disease specialist. Dr Choong is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with sub-specialist interest in cataract, children eye diseases and squint. He was an ASEAN Scholar and a recipient of the prestigious British High Commissioner’s Award to study Medicine in the United Kingdom. He graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Leeds with numerous academic awards including the prestigious University Crabtree Award. He was conferred Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), London and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) upon completion of the higher specialist training in the U.K. He is registered with the General Medical Council (U.K.) Specialist Registry and the National Specialist Registry Malaysia for ophthalmology.
He has extensive work experience at various leading institutions in the United Kingdom and has subspecialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and King’s College University Hospital. Prior to his return to Malaysia, he was consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff, U.K.
Dr Barkeh graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya and completed her post graduate studies in ophthalmology from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia
Her academic achievements were recognized internationally when she was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Master in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore in 2001.
Dr Barkeh's clinical skills were further fine tuned when she was awarded a double fellowship in 2002 for one year in Melbourne, Australia. These were Fellow of the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), tenured at The University of Melbourne, and Senior Fellow in the Vitreo Retinal and Medical Retina Units, tenured at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia

Dr Kok trained through the United Kingdom higher surgical training program at the Wessex deanery in England. He did sub-specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and was consultant ophthalmic surgeon in the United Kingdom National Health Service prior to his return to Malaysia.
Dr. Kok currently advises on complex management cases at the National University of Malaysia /University Kebangsaan Malaysia, where he also functions as surgical tutor to specialist and doctors on the Malaysian Masters of Surgery specialist training program. He has also trained 5 international specialist fellows to date.

Dr Lim graduated with Medical Doctor (MD) with distinctions from the National University of Malaysia in 1994 with numerous academic awards. He completed ophthalmology specialist training in Malaysia and was conferred Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) (Singapore), and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ophthalmology) (FRCSE), Edinburgh, in 1999. Subsequently, he completed an extremely competitive Fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery in Liverpool 2001/2002.
Upon his return from the United Kingdom in 2002, Dr Lim was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist and Head of Vitreoretinal Surgery in Selayang Hospital, the national referral eye centre in Malaysia. He was directly responsible for about 700 vitreoretinal operations performed yearly in the hospital.

Dr.Then obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from St.George’s Hospital, University of London. He also has a Masters degree in molecular biology from King’s College, University of London. In addition, he has done one year fellowship in stem cell research at Keele University. Dr. Then became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh in 1999 and is registered with the General Medical Council (U.K.) Specialist Registry. He was recommended by the UK Postgraduate Medical Education Board to the Royal College of Ophthalmologist to be awarded a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in 2006 after finishing his higher surgical training. He has done two cornea and anterior segment fellowships (Birmingham and Brighton) as well as a fellowship in inflammatory eye diseases (Birmingham). He has received numerous awards including the prestigious Scottish Priory of the Order of St. John’s research fellowship, an award given by the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh. He has also received numerous grants for his research including a major grant form the British Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
Dr.Then has ten years experience as an ophthalmologist in United Kingdom before being appointed as a senior lecturer/consultant ophthalmologist and head of corneal services at Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia. To date he has over 40 international presentations and over 27 publications. He is also the first ophthalmologist in Malaysia to use a patient’s tooth to save his vision, a highly complex procedure only performed by a few surgeons around the world. Apart from cataract surgeries, his other interests include cornea and external eye diseases.

Dr. Zurina obtained her Bachelors of Medicine, Bachelors of Surgery from University of Malaya in 1996. After working in various departments and hospitals under Kementerian Kesihatan, she furthered her studies in Masters of Ophthalmology at University of Malaya in June 2000.
Her first Ophthalmology posting was in Hospital Kuala Lumpur under the former Malaysian Head of Ophthalmology, Dr. Mrs. Gomathy Arumugam and she was also offered a post as a trainee lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine at University of Malaya in October 2000.
Dr. Zurina graduated from the Masters of Ophthalmology program in May 2004 and was promoted to a lecturer in the same department where she started her Oculoplasty training under the guidance of Professor Dr. Kamala Devi Lingam, who is the visiting Oculoplastic Consultant at University Malaya Medical Center that same year. She then completed one year training of Clinical Fellowship in Oculoplasty at Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital in 2007 under the guidance of renowned Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons, Dr. Peter Martin, Dr. Ross Benger and Dr. Georgina Kourt.
Dr. Zurina is now a Senior Lecturer and Oculoplastic Specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She has done posters and oral presentations in international Ophthalmology conferences and is actively doing research in her department.
She is also an invited speaker in Oculoplasty Symposium and Continuous Medical Education program for Ophthalmology postgraduate students. Besides Cataract surgeries, her other interests include eyelid surgeries like Blepharoplasty, Ptosis repair, Lacrimal system surgery like Dacryocystorhinostomy and Orbital diseases.

Dr Kamala Devi Lingam is a senior consultant ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in orbital, ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery [oculoplastics].
She graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Mysore University in 1980. She obtained the Masters Degree in Ophthalmology from UKM in 1989. Thereafter she did a fellowship in Oculoplastics in the Queens Hospital Nottingham (UK) in 1997.
She served the government from 1979 till 2001. During these years in the government service she was the head of the ophthalmology departments in Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Baru [1992-1998] and Hospital Sultanah Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang in 1998. She worked in Hospital Kuala Lumpur as senior consultant till 2001.
She was appointed Professor and Head of the ophthalmology department, Melaka Manipal Medical College in 2002. Additionally, she is a visiting consultant to the Eye Department in University Hospital since 2002.
